What is Foundation ALA?

Fundación ALA is a Latin American non-profit organization whose main objectives are:

The development and implementation of programs, projects and plans in order to promote the development of small-scale mining and the formalization of artisanal miners in Latin America;

Prepare and implement formalization programs for small-scale miners and artisanal miners so that all their processes comply with the applicable legislation and the highest social and environmental standards, together with the different governments of each country, the institutions and actors (NGOs, communities , etc.) seeking the same goal;


Encourage and build capacities of small miners and artisanal miners through innovative models that include new technologies, quality processes and responsible technical, environmental and financial management;


Promote responsible use of mineral resources, with the efficient use of science and technology and effective social participation.


To achieve these objectives, we work with small-scale miners and their associations, governments and local authorities in each region and country in Latin America, with the support of international organizations, to promote mercury-free technologies for small-scale and artisanal mining, among other activities.


Our interest is to promote the responsible extraction of precious metals, promote high-quality local goldsmithing and ensure that the material used comes from operations that are friendly to the environment, safe for its workers and that comply with and respect the regulations in force in each country. in addition to international standards.
